Capillary Rheometer (CR) is a rheological instrument that has many geometrical similarities with common processing equipment such as extruder and injection moulding machine. All of them consist of a heated barrel, plunger or melt-driving mechanism (screw or piston) and flow geometries/cavities (die, runner, gate and mould cavity). Therefore, when flow behaviour of molten polymers in extrusion and injection moulding process need to be evaluated, the best way to do it is using a capillary rheometer. The following example is an attempt to connect both rheological measurement and processing at the same time using a modified capillary rheometer.

Modification made on capillary rheometer:

Construction of an extension nozzle       Construction of miniature mould and clamping unit

Connecting the mould with a temperature controller
